EPL: De Gea set to leave Man United

Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea, is set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season with a big pay-off to cut his contract at the club early as Dean Henderson officially becomes manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-choice keeper.

According to the Mirror, De Gea and three other senior keepers, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant and Joel Pereira, are expected to be let go at the end of the season.

Man United are ready to part ways with De Gea and want to get his eye-watering £350,000-a-week wages off their books.

But with two years left to run on De Gea’s contract, any move by Man United to move the 30-year-old on will likely involve a substantial pay-out to cut his time at the Red Devils short.

De Gea’s form has come under significant scrutiny over the past few seasons as Henderson was recalled from a very successful loan spell at Sheffield United last season.

Henderson signed a six-year £120,000-a-week contract in August last year and Solskjaer is keen to hand him the club’s number one jersey next season.

The 24-year-old was called into action a couple of times in De Gea’s absence after the Spain international returned home last month for the birth of his child.

The English keeper kept three clean sheets in the Premier League.
