Real Madrid vs Chelsea: Pity we don’t have Kovacic – Tuchel criticizes Kante

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has criticized midfielder N’Golo Kante’s performance following his side’s Champions League semi-final first-leg 1-1 draw with Real Madrid on Tuesday night in Spain.

Tuchel said Kante lacked the last pass and could have been more decisive during Chelsea’s clash against Real Madrid.

The former PSG manager believes the France international wasted attacking opportunities against Zinedine Zidane’s side, adding that it was a pity that Mateo Kovacic didn’t feature for Chelsea against the LaLiga champions.

Speaking on Kante’s performance after the game, Tuchel told Chelsea TV: “Yeah, top performance. Unfortunately, he also lacked a little bit the last pass.

“He could have been more decisive in front of the goal, he was driving at the back of the midfield from Real. But a very, very strong performance.

“It’s a pity that we don’t have Kova [Mateo Kovacic], because Kova is still more or less the same type of player, driving with the ball, and could have been very important. ‘You can see that Jorginho is very, very tired and a bit overloaded.”

Chelsea’s next game is against Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
